Di and I did finish the trip down Old Rt 66 and here are the last two pictures I will post on the drive.
This is the Cadillac Ranch in Texas People stop and paint these thing all the time. We saw more people at this site than any other Rt 66 spot on the drive. What some people consider art I will never understand.
This the Canyon in Texas and it is the second largest Canyon in the USA. No great river in it like in Russia or even the Grand Canyon but it is still very cool and quite impressive. Next time I hope the weather is cooler so I can camp in the area.
After we got back both Di and I have been really busy catching up with work and just getting ready for the start of the fall.
That means I have finally finished reading the book on the bike trip and have a pretty good idea of where I am going. I have bought new bike shows and made all the arrangements for the where and when Dave and I will hook up with visitors and others that want to ride with us.
I have still have to put more thought into what I will post about just the ride is simpIle but I have always had other things too. I am leaning towards, "One reason I am glad to be alive today". It sounds kind of crony I know but gives one perspective on the world. lately I have known I am alive because I hurt so much from past surgeries, not sure that is a reason to be glad or sad a little of both I guess.
I have to get on with things today, still need some minor gear, food to plan and the mounting and packing to get to.
Love and Kisses to all.

Friday Evening
It has been a busy couple of days and we are now in Texas. A new state for Annie Dog and she has now marked 40 states not too shabby for a pound found dog.
First for all those that are interested here is a picture of Mader or at least his inspiration from cars.
We found him slowly rusting away in Kansas. The lunch stop location had lots of stuff from the movie that showed he was part of the idea and that some parts of the town was also part of the movie.
Next we have stopped at I do know how many museums and learned about lead mining, zinc and coal and oil drilling. almost every little town has a small piece of history and it is interesting to stop and visit with all the people many being volunteers that remind me of my folks who just love to talk.
Love to all and to all a good evening.

Day 2 and Day 3
When in Springfield IL the Presidents home is a must see. I have several pictures to post but the transfer is not as easy as I had hoped it would be and I will have to do some more research.
After seeing the home we moved on down the road Sunday afternoon to the Chain of Rocks Bridge and walked across that span it was neat to reflect back on the river trip and see the world from up there rather than down there. Saw a barge proceeding down the channel and remembered how nervous I was moving around these giants on the river and in the narrow canal.
The found the Cahokia Mounds in southern IL another must see. They are huge by any standards and it takes your breath away on the scale these people thought and build. The site covers 6 square miles and that is just site out farms and buildings covered even more land. Just the wall surrounding the main site was 2 miles long with a center plaza over 40 acres just huge. They claim up to 20,000 lived in the area at one time and then just disappeared around 1400-1500 for no known reasons.
We then bypassed St. Louis and stopped to see the Caves and they are cool literally and from a experience perceptive too.
So there is the update love to all and to all good night.

Vaca with Di
I brought the netbook on the Rt 66 trip to try and see if Ian use it. This is my first post on the road so far so good (like the old joke of the guy who fell from the empire state building. As he passed the 40th floor someone asked how it was and he said, "so far so good".) Today my challenge is to post a picture to the blog so here it goes.
Hey I did it!!! Lincoln saying his farewell to Springfield.
Well love and kisses to all and to all a good day.

First Time Blogging
This is my first time I have blogged.
Planning is going OK but with some work stuff and Dianne and my Vacation it seem like a huge rush to finish all my stuff and leave the work world behind.
But today is just the start of the vacation plan for the drive down Rt 66 with Dianne for the next 10 days so I better get going.
Much more to come.
